Week 10 Stats: 13 tackles (8 solo), 4.5 tackles-for-loss (9 yards), 0.5 sack (2 yards)
Calgaro becomes the second freshman this season to earn both NEC Defensive Player of the Week and NEC Rookie of the Week honors on the same day, joining Duquesne’s Luke Miller, who turned the trick on Sept. 16. The linebacker was the anchor of a Saint Francis U defense that shut out an opponent for the first time this season. He hit double figures in tackles for the first time in his career in the 34-0 blanking of Stonehill after leading all players with 13. Most impressively, Calgaro registered 4.5 tackles-for-loss, which ties Central Connecticut’s Dan Toatley for the most in a game this season, and half a sack, to push the Skyhawks back a total of nine yards. Calgaro and the Saint Francis U defense held the Skyhawks to negative passing yards and just 60 rushing yards. This is his first-ever NEC Defensive Player of the Week award.
