Last Week’s Stats: .489 hitting percentage, 3.62 points per set, 3.00 kills per set, 1.00 block per set
For the third-straight week — and a league-leading fourth time this season — Correia has been named the NEC/Molten Rookie of the Week. The outside hitter/right-side helped propel the Sharks to a 3-0 week that included their second consecutive sweep of an NEC opponent after she contributed 3.62 points per set on 27 total kills and nine blocks. In addition, the first-year standout from Brazil hit an impressive and league-leading .489 on the week for the Sharks, who extended their season-best win streak to six with a trio of straight-set triumphs. Correia got her week going with a solid all-around effort against non-conference foe Manhattan that featured a .563 attack percentage and a match-best 11 kills to go along with four digs and four blocks on Wednesday. Matching a season-high effort in rejections against the Jaspers, she went on to deliver five more blocks on the weekend, including three in Friday’s series opener against the Le Moyne. With the league sweep, the Sharks improved to 5-3 in NEC play, which is good for fourth in the standings. Correia enters the week ranked sixth in the conference in hitting percentage (.271), while her 0.73 blocks per set are good for seventh in the league.
