Last Week’s Stats: .319 hitting percentage, 3.35 points per set, 2.90 kills per set, 1.10 digs per set, 0.80 blocks per set
Correia pushed her league-leading NEC/Molten Rookie of the Week award count to three after she became the first freshman to earn the honor in back-to-back weeks this season. The outside hitter/right-side has been on a roll as of late, and this past weekend was no exception. Offensively, Correia averaged 3.35 points and 2.90 kills per set on .319 hitting in a 3-0 week for LIU that featured a pair of straight-set triumphs and back-to-back league wins at Stonehill. On the defensive side, the Brazilian contributed 1.10 digs and 0.80 blocks per set. Correia got her week going with an efficient outing against Saint Peter’s, as she hit .429 with 10 kills and one error in the mid-week non-conference matchup. In Saturday’s 3-1 win at Stonehill, she had one of her finest outings in an LIU uniform to date after she posted season-best numbers in kills (15) and blocks (4). With the victories over the Skyhawks, the Sharks slid into the top half of the standings, where they rank fourth with a 3-3 record. Correia is ranked inside the NEC’s top-10 in both hitting percentage (.234) and blocks per set (0.67).
