Mikkelsen was an offensive force for LIU last week as he netted two of the Sharks’ three goals. The graduate student had some late match heroics in a 1-1 draw against unbeaten Monmouth with the match-tying goal in the 76th minute from 18 yards out. The Hawks were ranked fifth in the latest United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region Poll. The Randaberg, Norway native added his second score of the week in a 3-2 setback at Marist. Mikkelsen now has three goals on the year, which is tied for the most by an LIU player and fourth in the NEC this season.
