Marsden becomes the first player in the circuit this season to garner both NEC Player of the Week and NEC Pitcher of the Week honors on the same day. The graduate student was a dominant force on both offense and defense for the Red Flash, delivering strong all-around performances inside the circle and in the batter’s box to lead her team to another three-game sweep. Taking all three games from Wagner, Saint Francis U, which is pursuing the third perfect conference season in NEC history, improved to 21-0 against league competitors. In a pair of starts, Marsden went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 11 strikeouts in Saturday’s 4-0 win and Sunday’s 6-1 triumph. In 13.0 frames, she allowed just three hits and three walks. Offensively, the Erie, PA native posted a .500 batting average and had at least one hit in each of Saint Francis U’s four games, combining to go 6-for-12 with a .917 slugging percentage and a .538 on base percentage. During the sweep of the Seahawks, Marsden doubled three times and scored one run in each of the three victories. This is her first NEC Player of the Week award this season.
