Marsden combined for 13.0 innings of lights-out pitching for Saint Francis U to garner NEC Pitcher of the Week distinction for the second consecutive week. The graduate student did not allow an earned run in a pair of starts and during that 13.0-inning stretch, she scattered just three hits and three walks and struck out 11 batters to contribute to the Red Flash’s three-win weekend at Wagner. Scoring its seventh NEC sweep of the season, Saint Francis U (34-12, 21-0 NEC) enters the final weekend of conference play against Merrimack with hopes of putting together the third undefeated league slate in conference history. Marsden threw a two-hit complete game shutout to propel Saint Francis U to a 4-0 win in Saturday’s opening game. The Erie, PA native had a solid outing in the Sunday’s series finale, allowing one hit and a walk in 6.0 scorless innings in an eventual 7-1 triumph. The two victories pushed Marsden’s league-leading total to 17. In addition, the veteran pitcher is second in the NEC in ERA (1.74) behind fellow teammate Grace Vesco (1.28), while her .191 opposing batting average is also second behind Vesco (.130). This is Marsden’s fourth NEC Pitcher of the Week award, which leads all hurlers in the circuit this season.
