Thanks in part to Marsden’s stellar pitching, Saint Francis U continued its dominant run through the NEC slate. The veteran hurler was locked in during her two starts, as she did not allow an earned run in 9.0 innings of action in a weekend set that saw the Red Flash’s pitching staff keep FDU off the scoreboard throughout all three games. During that stretch, the NEC’s leader in wins (15) racked up 10 strikeouts while limiting the Knights to just three base runners on two hits and a walk. Marsden had an outing to remember in Saturday’s nightcap. In the 14-0 five-inning triumph, she tossed the second no-hitter of her career and fanned six batters during that stretch. Most impressively, the hurler had a perfect game going through 4.2 frames before surrendering a walk. In her second start on Sunday, the Erie, PA native struck out four and allowed two hits in 4.0 scoreless innings en route to a five-inning triumph. To put a bow on her impressive weekend, Marsden highlighted a combined 7-for-10 effort at the plate with a three-run homer in Sunday’s series finale, an 11-0 win. Earning a sweep of FDU — their sixth against a league opponent this season — the Red Flash claimed the top seed in the NEC Championship and at least a share of the NEC regular season crown with an 18-0 record in conference play. This is Marsden’s third NEC Pitcher of the Week award this season, and the sixth for a Red Flash hurler.
