Shroyer strung together a solid stretch of lights out pitching this past week to take home NEC Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time this season. FDU’s ace was an absolute workhorse inside the circle, as she went the distance in each of her four starts and tossed 29.1 innings. Earning wins in three of those contests, Shroyer, who did not allow an earned run on her watch, held NEC opponents to a stingy .073 batting average after limiting Le Moyne and Merrimack to a combined seven hits, nine walks and three runs. Most impressively, the league’s leader in strikeouts tacked on 51 more to her count to push her season total to 179, which are a whopping 65 more than the next closest competitor. In her first appearance of the week at Le Moyne, Shroyer was absolutely dominant. She punched out 13 Dolphins and did not allow an earned run en route to a 6-1 win in the series opener on Wednesday. She followed that performance with yet another impressive outing in the finale on Thursday, as she tossed a seven-inning no-hitter and struck out 12 to help FDU claim the series win by way of a 3-0 decision. On Saturday, the California product made it three victories in a row after she held Merrimack to two hits and an unearned run while fanning 11 batters in a 2-1 win. Despite suffering the loss in Sunday’s finale with the Warriors, Shroyer had another stellar outing. In 8.1 frames, she registered 15 strikeouts and allowed one unearned run in a heartbreaking 1-0, extra-inning defeat. In addition to leading the circuit in strikeouts, Shroyer is second in ERA (1.61) and innings pitched (126.1), while ranking third in opposing batting average (.206) and wins (12). She is second in NCAA Division I in total strikeouts, ninth in strikeouts per seven innings (9.9), 11th in complete games (15) and 13th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.97).
