Arvai posted a .357 batting average after she went 5-for-14 at the plate to lead Merrimack to a 2-2 record in NEC action last week. Registering at least one hit in all four games, including a double in a mid-week win over Stonehill on Tuesday, the first-year infielder/outfielder scored two runs and drove in six more during that stretch. Sending home at least one run in each contest during that stretch, Arvai extended her RBI streak to six games. In the win over the Skyhawks, the California native accounted for more than half of Merrimack’s scoring in a 6-4 decision after she scored one run and drove in three more. Later in the week, Arvai’s bat played a key role in forcing a rubber match with Sacred Heart on Sunday, as her base hit tied up the game at 3-3 in the fourth inning. The Warriors went on to secure the win in the next frame thanks to a two-run single off the bat of Madison Cerpa. This is Arvai’s first NEC Rookie of the Week honor, and the first for a Merrimack player this season.
