Hughes poured in the offense in Stonehill’s lone game of the week and in the process, she also hit a major career milestone. The senior attacker totaled seven points — including the 200th of her career — after she scored five goals and assisted on two others in the Skyhawks’ 19-13 road win at Wagner on Saturday. Her second assist of the contest, which propelled her into the 200-Point Club, put Stonehill in front for the first time and gave it a lead it would not relinquish for the remainder of the game. Later in the opening half, Hughes contributed three points, including back-to-back goals within a 33-second stretch, to fuel a 6-0 run that put Stonehill up by an 11-6 count at halftime. A native of Franklin Square, NY, Hughes is the NEC’s leader in goals per game (3.55) and points per game (5.09). This season, she has turned a hat trick seven times and has put up five-or-more goals on three occasiosn. This is her first NEC Player of the Week award this season, and the second for a Stonehill player.
