Cino takes home NEC Player of the Week accolades for the first time this season after she put up monstrous numbers at the plate to lead Central Connecticut to a perfect 4-0 record last week. The 2023 All-Rookie team member posted a 1.630 OPS after she slugged 1.067 and calculated a .563 on-base percentage. Most impressively, Cino, who hit .533 during that four-game stretch with an 8-for-13 clip in a three-game NEC sweep of Le Moyne, sent half of her eight hits for extra bases with two home runs and a pair of doubles. At week’s end, she drove in nine runs and scored three more. A native of Bayville, NJ, Cino produced at least one RBI in all four games and drove in multiple runs in each of the matchups with the Dolphins. The highlight of the shortstop’s week came in Friday’s series opener at Le Moyne, where she slammed a two-run home run and accounted for four of the Blue Devils’ six RBI in a 6-0 shutout. Cino enters the week ranked first in the NEC in several offensive categories, including batting average (.431), slugging percentage (.708) and OPS (1.189). Her batting average is 59 percentage points higher than the next conference competitor. Cino is the second Blue Devil to garner NEC Player of the Week distinction, joining Paige Stringer, who earned the honor on Feb. 27.
