In a battle of the top two teams in the circuit, Fantigrossi turned up the offense to help a red-hot LIU squad take down previously undefeated Le Moyne and vault into first place in the NEC standings on Saturday. The Sharks took care of business against the Dolphins in convincing fashion, delivering a 16-5 victory in Brookville to improve to 5-1 in conference play. A senior attacker, Fantigrossi poured in a team- and season-high six goals in that pivotal win, which saw LIU match a season-best offensive performance with 16 goals. Earlier in the week, the Port Jefferson Station, NY native contributed one tally to her team’s 9-6 victory against local foe Wagner. With last week’s triumphs, the Sharks have won four-straight games. This is Fantigrossi’s first NEC Player of the Week award this season. She currently leads the Sharks in goals (27) and is sixth in the conference with 2.25 scores per contest.
