Shroyer snags a weekly award from the NEC for the third time this season, having earned both the NEC Pitcher of the Week and the NEC Rookie of the Week honors on Feb. 27. The San Diego product registered double digits in strikeouts in each of her three starts this past week to push her total to 105, which leads all pitchers by a wide margin. The next closest competitor — Saint Francis U graduate student Grace Vesco — has registered 83 this season. In 19.0 innings and three complete games, the first-year hurler racked up 32 punchouts and allowed five earned runs on 14 hits for a 1.83 ERA. She was stellar in her first game of the week, as she fanned 10 batters and allowed just one run to lead the Knights to a 3-1 midweek win against Fordham. In her NEC debut, Shroyer was impressive despite taking the loss inside the circle. Allowing just one run on four hits, she punched out 10 more batters in the hard-fought, 1-0 defeat before she tacked on 12 more strikeouts in Sunday’s 3-2 setback. Shroyer is ranked seventh in the nation in total strikeouts, while her 10.5 strikeouts per seven innings is good for fifth in NCAA Division I.
