Garroway became the second freshman this season to earn both the NEC Player of the Week and the NEC Rookie of the Week award on the same day. She joins Sacred Heart’s Cierra Bender, who accomplished the feat on March 5. A first-year utility player, Garroway registered the biggest hit of her young college career as a pinch hitter on Saturday when she hit a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth to put the Red Flash in front of Big Ten foe Nebraska by a 6-2 count. Saint Francis U would go on to win the extra-inning affair, 6-3, to earn a victory over a Power Five program for the fifth time in the past six years (excluding the shortened 2020 season). Garroway, a native of Ellwood City, PA, posted a .500/.556/.625 slash line and had five RBI and a double in eight at-bats. This is her first-ever NEC Rookie of the Week honor.
