An offensive outburst propels Central Connecticut junior midfielder Talie Richardson to her first career NEC Player of the Week honor. A local product from Southington, CT, Richardson went off for six points behind the stretch of five goals and an assist to lead the Blue Devils past conference foe Howard 14-4, for their first victory of the year. She was a huge contributor to the battle for possession as well, registering game-best numbers in draw controls (7) and ground balls (6) while causing four turnovers. With the Blue Devils leading early by a 3-1 count, Richardson struck twice within an 89-second stretch to extend the advantage to four goals. Scoring two more times in the second quarter, she closed out the scoring with 5:20 remaining to make it a 10-point lead at game’s end. Richardson enters the week tied for eighth in the league with 2.00 goals per game, while her 1.00 assist per game is tied for ninth overall.
