Williams closes out her first-ever NEC slate with a bang, garnering the league’s Rookie of the Week award for the second consecutive week. With her back-to-back honors, the Holly Springs, NC native earned three NEC Rookie of the Week awards, which is tied for second-most in the circuit this season. One of the league’s hottest shooters from long range registered another efficient performance from behind the arc in FDU’s win at Central Connecticut on Thursday. She shot 3-of-6 from three to lead all scorers with 18 points. It marked the seventh time in as many games that she has finished in double figures, and the eighth time in the past nine games that she has knocked down multiple three-pointers. During that nine-game stretch, Williams has shot the three-ball at a sizzling .571 clip (24-of-42). She finished the regular season averaging 8.3 points per game, but really hit her stride in conference play. Ten of her 14 double-figure scoring games came against league competitors as she finished 13th on the league’s scoring chart with 11.8 points per game during that stretch. In addition, Williams’ league-leading 46.9 percent shooting from long range (30-of-64) in NEC play helped FDU lock up the No. 3 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
