Bender batted .364 (4-for-11) and slugged .818 to add a pair of NEC weekly awards to her resumé this week. The right-handed infielder from Shippensburg, PA doubled and tripled while recording five RBI and a pair of runs in five appearances at the Spring Games in Madeira Beach, FL. Most impressively, Bender struck out just one time during that stretch. Putting the Pios on the scoreboard with a two-run triple against Western Michigan on Saturday, she drove in two more runs and capped off the weekend with another extra base hit – her first career home run against UAlbany on Sunday. This is Bender’s first NEC Rookie of the Week award this season.
