Burke anchored Saint Francis U’s defense and propelled her team to a 15-9 win over Robert Morris on Wednesday. The sophomore contributed to a defensive effort that limited the Colonials to single digits in goals by causing a pair of turnovers and collecting four ground balls. With the victory, the Red Flash snapped a 13-game skid against the former NEC member that dated back to the second meeting between the two squads back in 2006. A native of East Moriches, NY, Burke forced both of her turnovers and collected three of her ground balls in the second half to help Saint Francis U maintain a four-goal edge to close out the game. She ranks 10th in the conference in ground balls per game (2.33). Burke becomes the first Saint Francis U player to garner NEC Defensive Player of the Week accolades this season.
