Murphy began her sophomore year at Stonehill on a strong note. In the Skyhawks’ first two games of the season, the Kearsarge, NH native charted 11 points, five ground balls and three caused turnovers to lead Stonehill to a 1-1 mark during that stretch. Murphy paced Stonehill’s scoring efforts with three goals and an assist in the season debut against undefeated UMass Lowell on Wednesday. Later in the week, the attacker made it back-to-back hat tricks to propel the Skyhawks past visiting FDU, 15-6, in the first conference game of the year on Saturday. Adding three caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls, she totaled career-best numbers in goals (4), assists (3) and points (7) in the win. The seven points are tied with teammate Molly Mae Hughes for the most in a game by an NEC player this season. Murphy enters the week ranked first in the conference in points per game (5.50) and total points (11), while her seven goals and 3.50 goals per contest are good for second in the circuit.
