Vesco, a three-time All-NEC first teamer, got her final season at Saint Francis U off to a strong start. In a pair of starts and three appearances, the graduate student paced a deep Red Flash pitching staff with a stingy 1.17 ERA in 18.0 innings of work at the Charleston Southern Kickoff Tournament. Vesco helped Saint Francis U jump out to a league-best 4-1 start after earning a pair of wins inside the circle. Holding the opposition to a .088 batting average during that stretch, she allowed just five runs — including three earned — while scattering five hits and three walks. In her season debut against Charleston Southern on Friday, Vesco went the distance and led the Red Flash to a 3-2 extra-inning victory. She allowed just one hit and struck out a season-best eight batters in that eight-frame outing. On Saturday, the Buckeye State native had another solid outing, as she tossed 4.2 scoreless innings of relief and earned the win in an 8-5 decision over Bellarmine. Vesco made one more start over the weekend against Siena on Sunday, and it proved to be a memorable one for the all-star hurler. She recorded the 600th strikeout of her career and led the Red Flash to a 4-3 triumph. Vesco is now a 12-time NEC Pitcher of the Week honoree.
