Fernandez had a stellar performance at the NYC Gotham Cup over the weekend to win her first NEC Track Athlete of the Week honor and second Rookie of the Week accolade this indoor season. The freshman ran a league-best and IC4A/ECAC qualifying 200m time with a 25.18 mark to finish fourth at the meet. She also set a Wagner program record in the event, which marks the second school record in her young career. Fernandez previously broke the 300m record (40.30) on December 8, 2023. Fernandez also ran to a ninth place finish in the 400m at the Gotham Cup in 59.20, which ranks fourth in the conference.
