Carruthers pushes her league-leading NEC Rookie of the Week total to three following a two-game stretch that saw her average 22.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.0 steal in 36.0 minutes per game. Her standout play helped lead Saint Francis U to a 1-1 record last weekend that included a big win over Le Moyne on Sunday afternoon. Carruthers got her week off to a fine start, putting together one of the best games of her short career in a 72-64 defeat to visiting LIU on Friday. Fueled by a red-hot 88.9 percent performance from three-point range (8-of-9), Carruthers dropped a career-high 30 points on the Sharks, adding four rebounds and four dimes. The 30 points, which are the most scored by an NEC rookie and the third-most by an NEC player this season, are the most registered by a Saint Francis U player since Jess Kovath put up 38 against Bryant on March 11, 2019. In addition, with her scorching performance from long range, Carruthers owns the third-best single-game three-point percentage by an NCAA player this season (minimum of seven makes). Two days later, the first-year guard went 2-for-4 from behind the arc for 15 points to help the Red Flash hand the Dolphins their first loss in conference play this season. On the week, Carruthers shot 48.4 percent from the field (15-of-31) and 76.9 percent from downtown (10-of-13). With 11 games in double figures, she ranks fourth amongst conference competitors in scoring (12.8 ppg), while her 16.8 ppg in league play is good for second, behind Sacred Heart sophomore guard Ny’Ceara Pryor (18.2 ppg).
