Watson put a bow on an impressive December by delivering back-to-back 20-point outings to help lead Central Connecticut to a 1-1 record last week. Already sitting on top of the NEC charts with her 38-point performance at New Hampshire (Dec. 3), the guard now owns the league’s three best scoring games this season after she followed a 27-point effort in a double-digit win over Colgate on Monday with 28 points at Big Ten foe Penn State two days later. The 5-foot-6 Texan had a hot hand as well, combining to shoot 56.4 percent from the field (22-of-39) during that stretch, including 68.8 percent (11-of-16) against the Raiders. In the victory over Colgate, the sophomore pulled down 12 rebounds to tally her first career double-double. With those two monstrous games, Watson has taken over as the league’s top scorer with 17.7 points per game. A two-time NEC Player of the Week honoree this month, Watson averaged a whopping 23.6 points per contest to lead all NEC players in December. That number is nearly double her scoring average of 12.8 points per game in November.
