Watson turned in one of the nation’s top-scoring games this season to garner NEC Co-Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career. The sophomore guard, who arrived at New Britain by way of East Carolina, was sensational on Saturday, dropping 38 points in a defeat to New Hampshire. Watson reached that career-best mark in impressive fashion, going 65.2 percent from the field (15-of-23), including 3-for-5 from long range. She took over the game and was virtually unstoppable in the final quarter of action, as she accounted for all 22 of the Blue Devils’ points and single-handedly outscored the entire Wildcats’ squad after turning in a sizzling 8-for-8 effort from the field during that stretch. Watson’s 38-point effort stacks up well against some of the best performances in the nation, as it is currently the fifth-best offensive effort of the season. In addition, her 38 points are the fourth-most scored in a single game by a Blue Devil in program history, and they are the most netted by an NEC player since Stonehill’s Emily Bramanti also had 38 last year against Bryant (Dec. 11, 2022). Behind her offensive outburst, Watson ranks second in the circuit in scoring with 16.4 ppg. She is the first Blue Devil to garner NEC Player of the Week honors this season.
