Perrantes helped Duquesne clinch the NEC’s AQ to the FCS Playoffs and win the league title outright with a 26-14 victory at Merrimack on Saturday. The junior threw for three touchdowns, 218 yards with one interception to help pilot the Dukes back to the top of the NEC for the first time since 2018. Connecting with Keshawn Brown to put Duquesne up twice in the first half, Perrantes capped an eight-play, 83-yard drive with a one-yard toss to DJ Powell with 3:43 left in the third quarter to break open a 14-14 stalemate and put the Dukes in front for good. Racking up more than 1,000 passing yards during conference play, the Los Angeles native threw for at least 200 yards against each of the seven NEC opponents he faced this season. The Dukes’ signal caller leads the circuit in passing yards per game (208.3), pass efficiency (140.9) and touchdown throws (21) this season. This is Perrantes’ first NEC Player of the Week award of 2023, and the third of his career.
