Back-to-back NEC Rookie of the Week, Ovaskainen placed gold in four events in a dual meet agaisnt LIU in 147-115 victory. The rookie from Lahti, Finland swam a 22.06 leg in the 200-yard medley relay for a winning time of 1:32.91. He swam 46.80 in the 100-yard freestyle ranking as the top NEC time followed by a winning time and school record 50.21 in the 100-yard butterfly. He completed the meet swimming a 46.99 leg in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a winning time of 3:07.63.
