Deptula had a strong finish to the 2023 regular season, and as a result, she becomes the first player in the circuit this season to earn NEC Defensive Player of the Week distinction in back-to-back weeks. One week after she totaled seven blocks in a pair of sweeps of Sacred Heart and Central Connecticut, the middle hitter struck again, tacking on seven more rejections to her season total to extend the Red Flash’s winning streak to six straight matches. Most notably, Deptula, a native of Boca Raton, FL, charted five blocks in a pivotal win over first-place FDU that snapped the Knights’ program-record eight-match win streak and secured Saint Francis U’s spot in the NEC Championship on Friday. Deptula added two more blocks in Saturday’s 3-1 win over LIU, which locked up the No. 3 seed for the red-hot Red Flash. The three-time NEC Defensive Player of the Week enters the postseason ranked fifth in the conference in blocks per set with 0.89.
