Week 11 Stats: 11-of-15 completions, 73.3 pass completion pct., 3 TD passes, 0 INT, 7 rushes, 37 rush yards
Behind his finest performance to date in a Merrimack uniform, Anthony piloted the Warriors to a crucial 35-24 home win over Central Connecticut on Saturday in the penultimate weekend of the regular season. With the triumph, and Duquesne’s loss to Stonehill, Merrimack set the scene for a Week 12 regular-season finale between the Dukes and Warriors that will determine the recipient of the NEC’s AQ to the NCAA FCS Playoffs. A win in that game would also grant Merrimack a share of the regular season title for the first time in program history. Anthony went 11-of-15 for a career-best 190 passing yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions. Charting a 73.7 pass completion percentage, the Washington, D.C. native added a career-best 37 rushing yards on seven carries. Putting Merrimack in front for good on a 12-yard touchdown throw with 4:51 left in the second quarter, the junior threw two more touchdown strikes — including a 53-yard toss to Donovan Wadley — in the third to put the Warriors up by 11 heading down the stretch. Anthony has been on point as of late. Since getting intercepted in his first career start against Stonehill on Oct. 7, he has gone without a pick in his past four games and his last 67 throws. The junior enters the regular-season finale with eight touchdown throws and a pair of touchdown rushes in six appearances. This is his first career NEC Offensive Player of the Week honor, and the first for a Warrior this season.
