Keogh led all NEC players in scoring on the final day of the regular season as she registered a hat trick in Merrimack’s 4-2 win over LIU on Thursday. The Warriors faced a 2-0 deficit late in the second half with the NEC regular season title and the top seed in the NEC postseason on the line. In the 69th minute, Keogh fired back for Merrimack as she beat her defender in the 18-yard box and slotted the ball into the goal. The Sharks held onto a one-goal lead for the next 13 minutes until Keogh once again found the back of the net to tie up the match in the 82nd minute. The freshman forward’s third and final goal of the match came with a minute and a half remaining and iced the game in Merrimack’s favor. Keogh’s three scores were instrumental in Merrimack securing its first ever NEC women’s soccer regular season crown and marked just the second hat trick in league play this fall. The Plaistow, NH native has score eight times this season, which is the best among all NEC freshman, and she is tied for third among all players. She also has registered the most points this season of any freshman in the league with 17.
