Fucka becomes the first FDU player to garner NEC Defensive Player of the Week honors this season. The graduate transfer from Coastal Carolina stepped up to lead the Knights to wins in two crucial road matches, including a big 3-1 triumph at Sacred Heart on Friday. With the weekend sweep, FDU is in second place in the league standings behind Sacred Hert (8-1) with a 7-2 mark in NEC play. Over the weekend, Fucka averaged 2.56 kills, 1.44 blocks and 0.44 aces per set. The Italian-born middle blocker produced an impressive stat line on Friday, as she registered eight kills, three aces and a season-high nine blocks for the Knights, who became the first team to take down the Pioneers in conference play this season. One day later, Fucka delivered a season-best 15 kills behind a fiery .560 hitting percentage to lead FDU past Central Connecticut in five sets and extend her team’s season-best winning streak to five matches.
