The repeat NEC Rookie of the Week, Saavedra has now scored three goals in his last two matches with the Sharks becoming an offensive catalyst as a first-year midfielder. In Sunday's NEC matchup against Howard, LIU kicked off the game trailing by a goal and fought their way back in after equalizing the game at 1-1 in the first half. In the second half, Saavedra made a far post run where a service was fired across the mouth of the goal finding the head of the Miami, FL native to put the Sharks ahead. Saavedra then was the pivotal piece in a brilliant three-man combination play to set up teammate Ben Assane Fall to secure the 3-1 triumph.
