Fucka put up big-time numbers for FDU, which downed LIU in four sets on Saturday to move into a four-way tie for second place in the NEC standings. Putting up 1.14 blocks per set, the graduate student from Bologna, Italy averaged a league-high 3.71 kills per set on a sizzling .415 hitting percentage in the Knights’ 1-1 week that also featured a 3-0 defeat to Stony Brook in mid-week non-conference action. Fucka got her week going by delivering eight kills and a trio of blocks against the Seawolves on Wednesday. Three days later, the middle blocker registered a season-best 18 kills and tied a match-best effort in blocks with five to propel the Knights past the Sharks in a key conference matchup. Fucka is putting up solid numbers this season. Leading the NEC in hitting percentage (.347), she is seventh in blocks per set (0.86) and 10th in points per set (2.92). This is Fucka’s first weekly award from the NEC this season, and the second for an FDU player this season, as Kyndal Ganoe was pegged the league’s Rookie of the Week on Sept. 19.
