In a 2-2 draw on Sunday against Merrimack, Saavedra led the offensive netting his first collegiate goals of his career. Down by a goal in the first half, the rookie midfielder from Miami, FL evened the scoreline at 1-1 after he stepped through a rebounded shot at the top of the box with the in-step of his foot knicking the crossbar for a beautiful first career goal as a Shark. He then scored a go-ahead goal after the ball was flicked into the box where Saavedra showed off his brilliance and took the ball out of the air, away from the defender and into a quick release at the far post just out of reach of the keeper for his second masterclass finish.
