Colon tacked on another solid week to what has been an impressive start to her junior campaign. The libero averaged a league-high 5.83 digs per set to propel LIU to a perfect 2-0 week in conference play that featured back-to-back sweeps of Le Moyne on Friday and Saint Francis U on Saturday. In addition, Colon tacked on three service aces, all of which came in the Sharks’ first-ever meeting with the Dolphins. The Puerto Rico native tallied 13 digs in Friday’s match before she registered 22 more in Saturday’s big road win against the Red Flash. Posting double digits in digs in each of her 16 appearances this season, including 20-or-more in eight matches, she ranks third in the nation in digs per set (5.93) and is fourth in total digs (350) this season. With this week’s award, Colon now has four weekly honors from the NEC this season, as she is a three-time NEC Defensive Player of the Week honoree (Sept. 6, Sept. 19, Oct. 3) and a one-time NEC Player of the Week award recipient (Sept. 19).
