Webber played a key role in leading Merrimack to the program’s first-ever 2-0 start in NEC play. The sophomore middle blocker led all NEC players by averaging 4.17 kills per set after delivering 50 total kills on .312 hitting during a three-match stretch last week. Registering double figures three times, Webber also raised her career high in the category in each of those three matches. A native of Bristol, CT, Webber got her week going with a 13-kill effort in midweek action to Bryant, a 3-0 defeat, before she tacked on 18 more to her count to propel Merrimack to a five-set victory over visiting Saint Francis U on Friday. On Saturday, Webber went on to put together one of her finest performances of the season to date against Le Moyne to lead Merrimack to a 3-1 win in the two teams’ first-ever meeting as NEC rivals. She drilled a career-high 19 kills and did so in efficient fashion, committing just three miscues in 36 attempts for a sizzling .444 hitting percentage. Webber enters the week ranked sixth in hitting percentage (.229) and seventh in kills (2.71 per set). This is her first career NEC Player of the Week award, and the first weekly award for a Warrior this season.
