Eicher, an outside hitter, becomes the first player this season to repeat as NEC Player of the Week. The senior, who has established herself as one of the league’s most lethal hitters, hit .277 over a three-match stretch at the Terrier Invite and averaged an NEC-leading 4.77 kills to also earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team. In addition, Eicher contributed to the Red Flash’s defensive efforts with 2.85 digs per set. The Rostraver Township, Pa native got her week off to a strong start, delivering 26 kills — the fifth-most in a single match in program history since the start of rally scoring — to lead the Red Flash to a 3-1 win over Belmont on Friday. Putting together a double-double in a four-set defeat to Wofford with 20 kills and 17 digs in Friday’s nightcap, she repeated the feat on Saturday in a five-set loss against Presbyterian with 16 kills and 12 digs. Eicher, who leads the NEC in kills per set (3.72), is first in the conference and 10th in the nation in total in total kills (145). Saint Francis U has dominated the NEC Offensive Player of the Week award in the early part of the season, as Korrin Burns took home the honor after the first week of action.
