DiStefano anchored a defense that held the top-scoring offense in the league to just nine goals on Saturday to earn NEC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season. In the process, she helped the Seahawks lock up the No. 2 seed in the upcoming NEC Championship with a 17-9 victory at Saint Francis U. A native of West Islip, NY, DiStefano made 19 saves between the posts for a .679 save percentage. In addition to registering the second-most saves in a single game by an NEC player this season, her 19 rejections rank fourth on the NCAA’s single-game performance list. Among conference leaders, DiStefano is first in save percentage (.539) and second in both goals against average (9.89) and saves per game (10.93). DiStefano, who previously earned the award on Feb. 27, is the second Seahawk to garner NEC Defensive Player of the Week distinction, as she joins three-time honoree Aileen Hannan (Feb. 20, March 27, April 3).
