Martin put together a lockdown effort on Saturday to lead Sacred Heart to a one-goal victory against LIU. With the triumph, the Pios secured at least a share of the NEC regular season crown for the first time since 2012. In addition, Sacred Heart locked up the top seed in the upcoming NEC Tournament. Martin and the Pioneers’ defense stymied an LIU attack that averages more than 10 goals per game by holding the Sharks to just six scores. The Huntington Station, NY native made 11 saves, a season-best, to finish with an impressive .647 save percentage. Martin currently leads the NEC in goals against average (8.30), while her .469 save percentage is good for third overall. This is her first weekly award from the NEC this season.
