McElhenny anchored a stout Sacred Heart defense that conceded just six goals in a pair of wins last week. With the victories, the Pioneers improved to 6-0 in the NEC for their best start in conference play since 2010. In addition, Sacred Heart clinched a spot in the upcoming NEC Tournament for the first time since 2017. The graduate student got her week off to a strong start after she registered three ground balls and caused three turnovers in an 11-5 win over then-undefeated Wagner. Three days later, McElhenny put a stamp on another solid defensive effort by the Pioneers. Tallying three more ground balls and tacking on three caused turnovers, the Davidsonville, MD native was the part of a back line that held the Knights to just one goal. McElhenny's 27 caused turnovers are a league-high, while her 1.93 caused turnovers per game are good for second in the circuit. This is her first NEC Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
