Sawyers is named the NEC Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. The rookie provided timely hitting this past weekend to help lead Saint Francis U to a three-game sweep of conference opponent FDU. Sending three of her four hits for extra bases, Sawyers posted a .500/.667/1.375 slash line after racking up three runs, three RBI and three walks. The Heath, OH native got her weekend going with a bang on Friday, launching a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth to push the Red Flash’s lead to 4-0 in an eventual 6-0 shutout win. In Friday’s nightcap, Sawyers provided the only scoring of the game and lifted Saint Francis U to a 1-0 victory after launching another solo shot in the third inning. In Saturday’s finale, Sawyers recorded an RBI in her team’s 9-8 walk-off victory. She is now a three-time NEC weekly award recipient, as she was tabbed both the Co-Player of the Week and the Co-Rookie of the Week on March 21.
