Cowans had a sensational stretch in the circle for LIU to lead the Sharks to a 2-2 record last week. The sophomore threw 10.0 scoreless innings in a pair of starts to earn a pair of five-inning victories against Central Connecticut. Cowans got her weekend going with a four-hit shutout on Saturday. In that game, she fanned five batters to lead the Blue Devils to a 9-0, five-inning win. The following day, the Camarillo, CA native was just as impressive, scattering just four hits while fanning six batters in another 9-0 triumph. During that two-game stretch, Cowans held opponents to a .222 batting average. This is her second NEC Pitcher of the Week honor.
