Hernandez claims her first NEC Player of the Week award — and the second for a Red Flash player this season — after she compiled five points in a 2-0 week. The junior midfielder came up big for the Red Flash on Friday against Akron. With 11:42 remaining in the third, she found the back of the net to cap off Saint Francis U’s scoring and extend the lead to three in the eventual 5-4 victory. Two days later against Delaware State, Hernandez had another standout offensive outing. The New Fairfield, CT did all of her damage in the first half, scoring three times while dishing out an assist during that span to help send the Red Flash into the halftime break with a commanding 12-3 lead. Saint Francis U went on to post a 16-12 win in that game to complete the undefeated week.
