Vesco was solid in each of her two starts at the Pirate Classic. The Uniontown, OH native was impressive in the Red Flash’s opener, striking out seven batters while allowing just two runs on a pair of hits in a 5-2 win over Bucknell on Friday. Making an appearance in relief and allowing one unearned run on her watch in Friday’s nightcap — a 5-4 walk-off defeat to East Carolina — Vesco went the distance in a 2-1 walk-off win against Radford on Sunday after scattering just four hits and two walks. Allowing five runs — including three earned — in three appearances and 17.0 innings, the veteran finished the weekend with a 2-1 record, a 1.24 ERA, 17 strikeouts and a .121 opposing batting average. This is her second straight NEC Pitcher of the Week honor.
