Small helped propel the 11th-ranked Dukes to a 6-1 record and a team title at the NEC Meet #3, which was held Saturday and Sunday at AMF East Haven in East Haven, CT. The junior righty was phenomenal in the best-of-7 baker format, averaging 20.60 pins per frame to rank second amongst all NEC competitors. Rolling strikes in more than half of her 78 frames (51.3 percent), Small converted on 90.0 percent of her makable spares (27-of-30), including 20-of-21 of her nine-count spares. In addition, the Pittsburgh product averaged 9.13 pins per first-ball attempted route to filling frames at an impressive .897 clip. The No. 2 seed in next month’s NEC Championship, Duquesne knocked down 218 more pins than the next closest competitor and posted a 196.4 average with a 7,658 total pinfall. This is Small’s second NEC Bowler of the Week honor, as she previously took home the award on Feb. 1.
