Savaglio picks up NEC Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time in her career after she earned two victories in the Knights' 3-2 weekend at the Frank Griffin Classic. The Middletown, NY native was stellar in a pair of starts and three appearances, posting a league-best 1.11 ERA while allowing just two earned runs on seven hits and five walks across 12.2 innings of work. In addition, Savaglio held opponents to a .156 batting average and racked up eight strikeouts during that stretch. The graduate student tossed 5.1 scoreless innings and struck out three to lead the Knights to a season-opening 2-0 win over Dayton on Friday. Two days later, Savaglio went the distance in a five-inning affair against Providence, fanning four batters while allowing two earned runs en route to FDU’s 11-3 victory.
