Murphy earns NEC Field Athlete of the Week distinction for the second time in as many weeks — and the third time this season — after she turned in two big performances in the jumps at the Winter Relays. The veteran took top-billing in the long jump in impressive fashion, breaking Saint Francis U’s 20-year old record of 5.60m with a leap of 5.66m. In addition, Murphy’s performance was the best in the NEC this season as it topped her previous conference-best mark of 5.58m, which was set at the Bison Opener in December. The Cresson, PA native was also stellar in the triple jump, adding another win to her resume after combining for a leap of 11.90m. Ranking second in the conference heading into the final weekend of regular-season competition, she came 0.03m shy of matching her season-best jump, which was set last month at the Penn State National Open.
