Pryor once again played a big role in leading Sacred Heart to another 2-0 week. The first-year guard tacked on two more double-figure scoring games against LIU (16 points) and Stonehill (17 points) to extend her rally to 20 games, a feat that no other NEC player has accomplished this season. In addition to averaging 16.5 points per game, Pryor stuffed the stat sheet again with 6.5 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in 33.0 minutes per game. Shooting 58.3 percent from the field on Thursday, the Baltimore product added seven assists and five rebounds in the Pios’ 70-58 oust of the Sharks. Pryor had another impressive outing against the Skyhawks, registering six rebounds, six dimes and four steals in 34 minutes. Working her way to the free-throw line 11 times where she cashed in nine of those attempts, she fended off a furious Stonehill comeback bid by scoring nine of her team-best 17 points in the final 1:17 behind a 7-of-8 effort from the charity stripe. With five more weeks remaining in the 2022-23 NEC women’s basketball regular season, Pryor has her sights set on breaking the league’s Rookie of the Week single-season record. She now has nine awards to her name and needs four more to match current record holder Jess Kovatch, who racked up 13 NEC Rookie of the Week honors for Saint Francis U in 2015-16.
