Spring, a native of Allegany, NY, led all bowlers at the NEC’s first event of the 2022-23 campaign, held at Nesbit’s Lanes in Pittsburgh. The senior was on a roll at the two-day event, averaging a league-best 22.69 pins per frame, a score that was more than one percentage point better than the next closest competitor. Most impressively, Spring filled 91.3 percent of her frames after throwing a league-best 44 strikes in 70 attempts (62.9 percent), while her 9.26 first-ball average was good for second in the circuit. Landing a trio of top-10 finishers, the 10th-ranked Knights won their first five matches and finished 5-2 at the first of three NEC events. This is Spring’s first NEC Bowler of the Week honor this season.
