Martino made notable plays in all four quarters of Merrimack's 43-5 road victory over LIU. Spearheading the Warriors' suffocating defensive effort, the veteran lineman registered four tackles, 3.0 sacks, one fumble recovery and a quarterback hurry. Martino put plenty of heat of the opposing passer, accounting for a NEC single-game season-high three solo quarterback takedowns as LIU managed to gain only 91 yards through the air. In the first quarter, Martino pounced on a fumble deep in LIU territory and set the stage for the game’s first touchdown. He made a fourth-down tackle to force a turnover on downs in the second quarter. The senior Warrior recorded a third-down sack on LIU’s first offensive possession of the second half and his quarterback hurry forced an incompletion on the Sharks’ next possession later in the third quarter. Martino made 2.0 solo sacks early in the fourth quarter with the second QB takedown resulting in a turnover on downs.
