Saddler was on his horse making plays all over the field in Bryant's first-ever game against a FBS program. The senior linebacker totaled 13 tackles (10 solo), one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in a setback at Mid-American Conference member Akron. One of the key reasons why the two teams were locked at a 14-14 stalemate after three quarter, Saddler made driving-ending plays in the red zone before and after halftime. With Akron looking to increase a 14-7 lead in the final minute of the first half, Saddler made a fumble-forcing stop at the 3-yard line on third down and tackled QB DJ Irons for no gain on fourth down. Akron’s first possession of the third quarter ended when Saddler scooped up a fumble at the Bryant 8-yard line. Seven of Saddler’s tackles limited the offense to a three-yard gain or less.
